How to be Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate

It was 6 years ago when I decided to become certified with Meta (formerly known as Facebook), and today marks the 3rd time I have recertified myself. I asked myself, why should I bother to be recertified officially, and yet, generally, what you do after what you know and deliver results is more important than what you are certified for. I also asked myself when is the time for me to move on to the next level of certification. If you have any suggestions for me, please let me know.

Where to Get Meta Certified

You can visit Meta's Certification Page (https://www.facebook.com/business/learn/certification/), where there are 7 certifications available.

For marketers, here are the recommended 3 certifications:
- 100-101: Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate.
- 200-101: Meta Certified Marketing Science Professional.
- 300-101: Meta Certified Creative Strategy Professional.

For in-house or agency digital marketing specialists planning to invest in buying ads, here are the recommended 3 certifications:
- 400-101: Meta Certified Media Planning Professional.
- 410-101: Meta Certified Media Buying Professional.
- 600-101: Meta Certified Community Manager.

Lastly, for creative specialists who are into designing 3D effects, 700-101: Meta Certified Meta Spark Creator is the way to go.

How much is my investment?

Actually, it is USD $51.94, which is RM244.43 converted to Ringgit Malaysia. Honestly, there are many ways to invest this sum of money, such as buying books related to digital marketing, starting to create your ads on Meta platforms and generate sales leads, or just spending on entertainment expenses. Do you think I should continue this investment to recertify myself in 2025 to prove that I am a qualified Facebook marketing associate?

What is the process?

After you select which certification you want to go for, you can continue to register for an exam online via Pearson and complete the payment.
Before the exam day, please make sure you download the software and perform hardware testing on your laptop or desktop.
On the exam day, you need to repeat the same process, and you need to wait for support staff to grant you entry to the virtual exam. The person online will double-check your identity and also ensure you are in a room without disturbance and avoid any form of cheating.

What is the verdict?

If you prefer a hands-on and trial-and-error approach, I think you can skip the 100-101 Meta Certification for Digital Marketing Associate. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are not rocket science, and in fact, you are using them every day without going through proper training.
However, if you are like me and would like to go behind the scenes to find out more, then RM 244.43 is money well invested.
